A rare 18th century German 'Westerwald' stoneware mug (beer stein) with a richly colored cobalt glaze over a milk white slip. Original hinged pewter top with unidentified maker's / owner's mark. In pristine condition. From a private fourth generation Brussels collection.
The top line of the mark is clear. The markings below are mostly clear, with the exception of the last character, which could be the letter 'H' or number'4'.
