The tradition of "The Veronica" recounts the story of a woman (Saint Veronica) who made her way through the crowds and wiped the sweat and blood from Christ's forehead with her veil as he continued his ascent towards Calvary. His image is said to have imprinted itself on the cloth and is still preserved in Saint Peter's today. Arguably, the title of this theme is also derived from "Vera Icon" or "True Icon."
Dimensions: 10 inches vertical x 7 inches horizontal.
Condition notes: in good, original condition.
