This magnificent 17th / early 18th century hand coiled lebrillo comes from the Triana District in Sevilla, Spain. Triana basins are almost always decorated in traditional patterns of flora and fauna. This pictorial lebrillo however, is an exception, and given the way in which it was rendered, together with a palette of early cobalt and copper green pigments, a conservative date for this lebrillo places it around the turn of the 18th century (circa 1700), or before.
The verso with a strap mount for display.
Dimensions: 22.5 inches diameter x 6 inches deep.
** Please note: other Spanish bowls and plates shown for scale only. Not included together with this item.
Condition: with period cracks, breaks and repairs. Wear commensurate with use and age.
