A superb 18th century Spanish colonial arcon -- covered over ever inch in elaborately tooled and embossed leather. The front panel features a magnificent eight inch diameter hand forged iron lock-plate and hasp surrounded by hand tooled avian and foliate patterns. Mexican 'Azteca' symbols surrounded by multiple rows of embossed animals and foliate motifs are represented on the top panel. The side and back panels mimic the same iconography represented on the front panel. The leather is rich with character, color and surface patina.
** Please note: the smaller leather arcon is shown for scale only and is not part of this listing.
Dimensions: 42.5 inches wide x 23.5 inches deep x 21 inches high.
Condition: in overall excellent, original condition with only minor leather separation at corners.
