This pair of 19th century oil on tin ex-voto paintings may be the only examples of their kind -- painted in sequence in honor of two miracles granted to Ignacio Cordova. The first ex-voto was offered in the year of 1867 and the second followed three years later.
According to the written narrative, in the year of 1867, Ignacio Cordova fell ill for a period of three months. In his village of Atzala, he petitioned 'Nuestro Padre Jesus' and was saved. In honor of this miracle this retablo was presented.
Three years later, in the year of 1870, Ignacio Cordova fell ill a second time with exactly the same symptoms. This time however, he spent four months in bed. Unable to find relief, he petitioned the patron saint of his village, Señor Santiago, and he was saved. In honor of this miracle this retablo was presented.
Dimensions: both 14 inches x 10 inches.
Condition notes: in good, original condition.
