This rare 19th century Quito school santo represents Saint Hyacinth rescuing the Sacred Sacrament and a statue of ‘Our Lady’ from a burning cathedral in Kiev. According to popular belief, the statue weighed far more than San Jacinto and during his rescue attempt, it became miraculously weightless. San Jacinto is invoked by those in danger of drowning.
