This very rare 19th century Mexican folk retablo represents San Cayetano - depicted here with all of his attributes. San Cayetano is venerated in Mexico to bring money and luck for gamblers. His heavily ornamented chain is a reference to his rejection of wealth. Other symbols include the cross, the crown of roses (a symbol of martyrdom) and white lilies (a symbol of purity).
** Attributed to Concepcion Avila - better known as The 'Bee Sting Lip' painter.
Dimensions are 10 inches vertical x 7 inches horizontal.
Condition: in overall excellent, original condition with only minor paint loss.
