This dramatic 19th century folk retablo represents "San Camilo de Lelis," often referred to as the "Red Cross Saint." San Camilo is the patron saint of sick people and nurses, and he is almost always depicted as he is here -- ministering to the sick at the hour of death. In almost every example of this subject, San Camilo is accompanied by villainous diablos, each said to be competing for the dyeing man's departing soul.
Dimensions: 7 inches x 5 inches.
