This richly colored early 20th century Plangi Seledang (Shoulder Cloth) comes from the Island of Sumatra in Western Indonesia. Using only traditional Japanese dye resist techniques, this magnificent silk panel was reactive dyed in lime green, white and scarlet red.
Professionally backed, stretched and mounted on a custom made stretcher and fine linen cloth. Circa 1930's / 1940's.
