A late 17th-century Spanish baroque period walnut 'pie de puente' or 'bridge table'. The 'pie de puente' is a shallow table designed for the support and display of a bargueno—a type of portable wooden secretary that originated in Renaissance Spain.
This example features a thick walnut top, paired, splayed, and turned trestle supports, tongue and groove construction, and the original iron mounts. The finish color is a deeply patinated carob brown.
Dimensions: 48 inches long x 15.75 inches deep x 30 inches high.
