A rare 18th century Spanish colonial miniature oil on copper painting - Saint Peter of Verona. According to popular belief, Saint Peter, patriarch of Jerusalem, was martyred for denouncing heresy. He was followed by several assassins, struck in the head with a hatchet and after his head had been severed he rose and recited the Apostle's Creed.
