Early 20th century Guatemalan 'Patron' mask from the 'Patzcar' dance. Carved and polychrome painted wood with innumerable layers of milky white paint (fair skin) and bright red spheres (sun-burnt cheeks). Cedar-wood with excellent wear and surface patina. Circa 1900 - 1920.
Dimensions: approximately 8 inches x 5.75 inches.
Condition: paint loss and wear commensurate with age and use.
