This colorful ceremonial dance mask from Guerrero represents a Moro (Moor) from the Dance of the Christians and Moors. Although the carving is both crude and primitive, that lack of refinement is counterbalanced with color, personality, charisma and charm. The Cheshire-like smirk, the diminutive forehead and the inordinately broad bridge of his nose are just a few of the attributes that make this mask truly one of a kind. Guerrero. Circa 1930's / 1040's.
Dimensions: approximately 8 inches x 6 inches.
