A rare late 19th century mustachioed 'Mazate' mask from the 'Baile de los Mazates' -- performed in Salama in the Department of Baja Verapaz. Cedar wood with traces of old polychromy together with original rose hair mustache and brow. Excellent wear and surface patina commensurate with age and use. Circa 1875 - 1900.
Dimensions: 7 inches x 5 inches x 3.75 inches.
Condition: beautiful old native repairs on verso.
