Outstanding early 20th century Maasai tribal 'rungu' - a ceremonial war club or throwing baton from Tanzania. The rungu is especially associated with Maasai warriors who use it in hunting and warfare. This example is especially fine, hand carved from clear hardwood with a long shaft and a heavy knob with pictorial carving at one end. Excellent color, wear and surface patina commensurate with age and use. Displayed on a high quality custom made stand.
Dimensions: approximately 22 inches long.
Condition: in excellent, original condition.
