This early 20th century Mexican ex-voto painting is dedicated the 'La Santisima Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos', alight atop her pedestal in upper right. Although the written narrative is only partially legible the graphics tell much of the story. On the day of October 9, 1913, in the house that we bought, two of the roofs collapsed and and the son of Olinona(sp?) Rodriguez became trapped in the rubble. The Virgin of San Juan was petitioned and he was saved. In honor of this miracle this retablo was presented.
Dimensions: 14 inches horizontal x 10 inches vertical.
