This 19th century ex-voto was dedicated to the 'Lord of Esquipulas' (represented in upper right) in honor of a miracle. According to the written narrative:
'Having goten ill after delivering a child on January 19, 1865, and not having expelled the afterbirth until July 13th, Dna. Ma. del Rosario was in the pangs of death, for which her mother-in-law invoked the Lord of Esquipulas, and then she immediately expelled the afterbirth and thus recovered. In thanks she dedicated this retablo to the Lord on October 18, 1868'.
Displayed in a hand painted Spanish colonial style frame.
Dimensions: ex-voto measures 14 inches horizontal x 10 inches vertical. The frame measures 17.75 inches x 15.5 inches.
