A pair of large early to mid 19th century hand hammered, hand raised and chased wall sconces with original sockets, drip pans, armature supports and light reflectors in the form of mollusk shells. With elaborate hand raised repousse covering the entire surface, the iconography includes a pair of woman bedecked in period costume, winged mermaids rising from the sea and presumably, the physiognomy of the 'North Wind' overhead. Netherlands. Circa 1825 - 1850. Composition: brass / bronze.
