A very fine, rare late 18th century Portuguese colonial shrine from Brazil. Carved and polychrome painted wood with a 'Cristo' and various saints, each meticulously carved in piedra de huamanga -- a soft and pure form of alabaster that is mined in the quarries around Ayacucho. In pristine condition.
Dimensions: 19.5 inches high x 9 inches wide x 5 inches deep.
Condition: excellent, original, unrestored.
