This early 18th century Spanish colonial arcon is worthy of any major museum collection. Made entirely by hand in the workshop of a highly skilled marquetarian craftsman, each panel was carefully traced and then incised with a marquetry knife and fret saw to create marquetry 'windows' which would later be inlaid with conforming shapes in different wood species. The panels are made of red cedar and the inlay is a citrus fruitwood. The hand forged and wrought iron hardware, including the hinges, hasp and lock-plate, are all oriiginal. Raised on a modern Spanish colonial style iron base.
Dimensions: 36 inches long x 20 inches deep x 31 inches high.
Condition: In overall excellent, original condition with only a few minor inlay losses.
