A rare early 19th century (dated 1809) Spanish colonial huamanga stone tablet in the form of a bound book. Veronica's Veil and the 'symbols of the passion', together with a date of 1809, are represented on the obverse face. The reverse face represents 'The Last Supper' with an inscription along the lower edge - 'Cena Domini' or 'God's Supper.'
Hand carved in 'huamanga', a soft and pure form of alabaster, with natural variations in the color of the stone. Argentina - 1809.
Dimensions: measures 5 inches x 3.5 inches x .5 inches.
