We are proud to be the custodian of this 'museum quality' 18th century Spanish colonial 'Frailero' (Friar's chair). Completely hand made by a master colonial craftsman, this mahogany Frailero corresponds more with sculpture than furniture. The armrests, of copious scale, are beautifully sculpted - each with a gently sloping double scroll turning on itself at the end. The stretcher-rails are chip carved in foliate patterns that mimic the fine tooling on both the leather seat and back. The overall proportions of the chair are generous - clearly made for an aristocrat of import. The overall level of quality and craftsmanship is superlative.
Please note: side table and accessories are shown for scale only and are not part of this listing.
Dimensions: 41 inches high x 26 inches wide x 24 inches deep.
Condition: in overall excellent, original condition. Solid and sturdy. Leather seat with several very small punctures.
