A very rare early 17th century hand wrought and hand forged Spanish colonial iron door latch with a remarkably well defined conch shell surmounted by a colonial figure. The latch, connected to the handle by a pivot hinge, is in the form of a serpent with a long, ominous tongue. Excellent wear with a rich and lustrous surface patina throughout. Raised on a high quality custom made stand.
Dimensions: 10 inches high x 6.5 inches wide.
Condition notes: no condition issues.
