A good early 17th-century Spanish box with mudejar style chip and geometric carving represented on the front, back, and side panels, and the underside of the lid. The carving present on the exterior side of the lid matches the carving elsewhere, however, after 350 years of handling the once deeply carving geometric patterns are now worn smooth with with surface patina. Joined by sturdy dovetails. Underside branded with 'S' monogram.
Dimensions: 13 inches x 8.25 inched x 7.5 inches.
Condition notes: lacking part of hasp. Back panel with old repair. Surface scuffs throughout.
