British Colonial Campaign Chest
Camphor Wood / Brass. Circa 1860 - 1880
High quality brass hardware inlaid into teak, cedar, pine or camphor are characteristic of the high quality portable campaign furniture made from 1714 to 1901 specifically for high ranking British army and naval officers. The timbers selected for this nautical campaign chest were milled from the highly prized camphor laurel evergreen trees endemic to Sumatra and the Borneo islands. The solid brass corner caps, brass borders and armorial lock-plate featuring the "stars and stripes" are a nice compliment to the rich amber colored finish. Interior equipped with till box and hidden interior compartment. Circa 1860 - 1880.
Dimensions: 38 inches x 18 inches x 18 inches.
