A fine late 18th century Austrian hunting cutlass with swept blade, saw back spine, brass D guard and clamshell hilt with stag antler grip. The brass clamshell and D guard depicting hunt scenes. The 19 inch blade shows overall deep pitting and wear.
Hunting cutlasses were used to dispatch prey after having been shot and wounded.
Raised on a high quality custom made teak wood stand.
