Made entirely of golden pine with a heavily patinated surface, this unique early 19th-century alpine trestle table appeals to us not for all that it has, but for all it lacks. Unlike much of the ornamented Rocococo and Neoclassical furniture of this era, the aesthetic design qualities manifested in this table are simple, unpretentious, and unassuming. The deep, suspended, rectangular drawer—which can be accessed from both sides—is devoid of any superfluous features beyond its tear-drop pull. The legs and trestle supports, reminiscent of basic 19th century alpine skis, are joined together by simple wooden keys. Swiss or French Made. Circa 1800.
Dimensions: 40 inches wide x 31 inches deep x 31 inches high.
