A large and impressive early 20th century hand embroidered wool wedding shawl from the Sind province in southeastern Pakistan. After the wool has been spun it is woven on a backstop loom into two long panels which are later sewn into one. The natural black wool is resist dyed in madder red, turmeric and a small amount of indigo and then embroidered, brocaded and embellished with mirrored glass and fringe along both ends.
Dimensions: 114 inches long x 42 inches wide.
Condition notes: pristine.
