A fine 19th century woman's shawl from Morocco with elaborate hand embroidered silk panels on both ends over a cotton ground cloth. The silk is soft and supple -- fully saturated in abrashed shades of violet and royal magenta over a semi translucent cotton ground cloth with brocades and a gauze like weave.
Professionally backed, stretched and mounted.
** Please note: the white field has not been cut, removed or altered in any way. It has been folded over and obscured by the silk ends.
Fez, Morocco - circa 1875 - 1900.
Dimensions: 38 inches x 37 inches x 2 inches.
