A good vintage Huichol yarn painting from Mexico's Huichol Indians in Jalisco, Nayarit and Durango. This colorful yarn painting, or 'Nierika' as they are known by the Huichol people, represents a village scene with a sacred deer flanked by shaman with healing wands together with a sacred hallucinogenic Kiera flower and the omni-present peyote cactus. Beeswax, resin and commercial yarn pressed into plywood - circa 1970's / 1980's.
Dimensions: 24 inches x 24 inches.
Condition notes: in overall good, original condition with only minor yarn separation along the top edge.
