This late 17th / early 18th century Spanish colonial figure represents The Archangel Michael, the leader of the army of God against the forces of evil and the angelic warrior who battled Satan. Saint Michael is often depicted as he is here, wearing blue and red armor in the style of a Byzantine officer.
Carved and polychrome painted wood. Raised on a high quality custom made base.
